Placing Your Order
- When you place your order you will immediately receive an order confirmation email.
- You will receive a second email containing a unique reference code, which will enable you to obtain your ticket.
- Your reference code will be emailed to you within 2 working days. Reference codes cannot be generated during the weekend as our offices are closed.
- PLEASE LEAVE SUFFICIENT TIME FOR YOUR REFERENCE CODE(S) TO REACH YOU.
- If your email does not arrive, please check your spam filter. If the email is not there, email VisitBritain.
- Reference codes will be sent to the email address you give when placing your order. Please double check that this is correct.
- Do not travel without your Reference number.
Retrieving Your Ticket
- Print out the email containing your unique reference code.
- Use the reference code to retrieve your official Stansted Express ticket from a ticket machine.
- Ticket machines are located in the main station concourse, below the airport arrivals lounge.
- You will need a valid credit or debit card to activate the ticket machine. It does not have to be the ticket you used to make the booking.
- IMPORTANT TO NOTE - If you buy a return ticket, your return journey must take place no more than 30 days after your outbound journey.
- If your return journey is more than 30 days after your outbound journey from the airport, you will need to buy two single tickets.
Ticket Information
- Child rate valid for 5-15 year olds.
- Children under 5 years travel free and do not require a ticket.
- It is cheaper to buy a return ticket than 2 single tickets.
- First Class offers a higher level of luxury and is more expensive.

* Overnight, when trains do not operate, a National Express Coach service operates to and from London Liverpool Street, stop G Bishopsgate. Stansted Express tickets can be used on these services.
Single tickets are valid only on the day they are collected from the ticket machine- tickets should not be collected prior to the intended day of travel.
Return tickets are valid 30 days from the date of outward travel. The outward journey must be made on the day the ticket has been collected from the ticket machine.
Important
In the unlikely event that the ticket machine does not work at Stansted airport or Liverpool Street station please take a clear print-out of your unique reference code to the ticket office at either station. The ticket office will then be able to issue a replacement ticket.
