Take an exciting journey through the history of rugby. From humble beginnings at Rugby School through to modern-day professionalism, the World Rugby Museum has it all and boasts the biggest collection of rugby memorabilia in the world. It’s all here in Twickenham Stadium where a Stadium Tour provides the perfect complement to your Museum visit – and it’s closer than you think at less than 30 minutes by train from central London.

The whole experience has something for everyone and promises an interactive journey through the history of the game, littered with visual delights and little-known rugby facts. The Museum’s many paintings, hours of match footage and original pieces of kit help tell the story of how a schoolboy game grew in popularity to become the internationally renowned sport it is today.

Watch original footage of the famous England tries by a Russian prince in the 1930s. Test your strength on a real scrummaging machine. See genuine match tickets from a bygone era. And see why an original England jersey from the very first international match illustrates perfectly just how much today’s players differ in physique from their forefathers.

On the Stadium Tour, you will learn from our expert Tour Guides how ‘the cabbage patch’ became Twickers and just how much it really does cost to get your very own hospitality box. Decide for yourself who has the best view of the game as you soak up the atmosphere from the top of the stand before later becoming a VIP in the Royal Box. The tour also includes a trip to the England dressing room, before lining up and running out of the players’ tunnel, and imagining 82,000 people cheering you on.

Twickenham town itself has a lot to offer. Continue your history lesson by making your way down the historic and quaint Church Street towards the Twickenham museum, or enjoy a relaxing stroll in York House Gardens. You’ll be spoilt for choice with the town’s wide range of cuisine and its seemingly endless supply of welcoming hostelries on the River Thames. And at less than two miles from Richmond Upon Thames and its vast park, Twickenham has something for everyone.

  • Twickenham Stadium south stand is now open and visitors can use the cafe bar / restaurant facilities at the stadiums Marriott Hotel or visit the flagship Rugby Store.
  • The RFU reserves the right to change details and/or prices without prior notice.
