The original Globe Theatre burnt down in 1613 during a performance of Henry VIII. It was located in London’s Bankside, (close by to today’s Globe).

In the 1990s actor and director Sam Wannamaker loyally recreated ‘Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre’ as you see it today.

Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre Tour

Professional guide-storytellers provide fascinating tours of the auditorium, recreating colourful stories of the original Globe and the reconstruction process in the 1990s.

Tours begin every 30 minutes and are in English. Free information sheets are available in French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Dutch, Russian, Romanian, Polish, Greek, Hungarian and Czech.

Please note: as The Globe is a working theatre, Theatre Tours are not always available. When Globe Tours are not available your ticket includes a tour of the nearby archaeological site of the Rose Theatre: Bankside's first playhouse.
