Kate Middleton's Wedding Dress Exhibition in Buckingham Palace

In a rare and intimate exhibition, from the 23 July – 3 October 2011 Buckingham Palace will open its gates to the year’s most talked-about fashion spectacle: Kate Middleton’s wedding dress

Members of the public will be able to admire up close and personal Kate’s dress, which will be taking centre stage at the forth-coming Royal Collection exhibition.

As well as the celebrated dress, the exhibition is set to showcase the wider elements of the bridal ensemble. The bridal shoes, also made by the McQueen team, were hardly noticeable under the wraths of satin as Kate Middleton walked down the aisle. Visitors to the exhibition will be able to inspect the dainty shoes, the lace of which was hand-stitched by the Royal School of Needlework.

The exhibition will also display the bride’s earrings and 1936 diamond encrusted tiara which was lent to Kate by Her Majesty the Queen. The earrings provide an additional personal touch to this unique exhibition. Commissioned by the bride’s parents to contain the new Middleton coat of arms, they were presented to Kate as a wedding gift.

Fashion aside, this one-off exhibition will also include a culinary element – the 8 tiered wedding cake. Not eaten on the day, (guests were given alternative sweet delicacies) visitors can see the very mark where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridgeshire cut into their cake with a sword.

Incorporating the new face of the British monarchy in the most historic and iconic setting, this summer’s Royal Wedding Dress Exhibition at Buckingham Palace will no doubt prove to be a highly popular attraction on any London Sightseeing tour.
