Situated in the heart of the capital, the SeaLife London Aquarium experience takes visitors on an immersive and interactive journey along the Great Oceanic Conveyor.

NOW AVAILABLE: Behind The Scenes at the SeaLife London Aquarium!

You can now buy SeaLife London Aquarium tickets to include the new 'Behind the Scenes' exhibit: a forty minute tour taking you through the three main areas at the heart of the SeaLife London Aquarium:

  • Creature Care and Research
  • Food Preparation
  • Water Management

Housed deep in the cavernous County Hall building on the banks of the Thames - only an 8m brick wall separates the working space from the river. Step right into the action, join in with quizzes and feel free to ask the aquarists questions!

Stop One: Creature Care and Research

This is where the team look after animals not currently part of the attraction. These could be new arrivals who are getting acclimatised, creatures who need a temporary base whilst displays are being renovated or cleaned, or those in need of medical treatment.

It is here where you will get a first-hand insight into any research and breeding work happening. This can range from rearing unusual fish like Butterfly and Blackface Blennys, populating coral, or SeaLife’s hugely successful seahorse breeding activities.

There’s also the Rock Pool Resting Area where the creatures not ‘working’ in the attraction’s touch pools rest up between ‘shifts’!

Stop Two: Water management

With over 2.5 million litres filling 65 displays, water is quite literally the lifeblood of the SeaLife London Aquarium. Around 20 systems and 100 pumps keep everything working as it should and you will get a unique peak at this sophisticated system and help out with quality checks.

Stop Three: Food preparation

Did you know that over 50kgs worth of food is prepared every week at SaLife London Aquarium? Find out just what’s on the menu as you watch the aquarists prepare to feed over 5000 creatures every day.

THE ICE ADVENTURE AT SEALIFE LONDON AQUARIUM

The SeaLife London Aquarium invites you to travel to the frozen extremities of the Antarctic, to the major themed experience ICE ADVENTURE. Experience life with a family of Gentoo Penguins as you are transported to the depths of a research station in the Antarctic, and marvel at these acrobats of the Penguin world!

Discover the challenges one of the most inhospitable landscapes on the planet presents to its inhabitants every day as you journey through an icy landscape packed with fun interactive features. As the temperature drops, look at the world through snow goggles, dip your hands into freezing touch pools and run your hands along a wall of real ice! The recreation of a remote ice station even allows you to experience polar “white out” training, with authentic equipment donated by leading science and research organisation British Antarctic Survey.

Arriving at the penguin viewing cave, you will be enchanted by the grace of the Gentoo Penguins as they dive and play in their carefully created new home. You will also meet some other Antarctic dwellers, like the trio of Japanese Spider Crabs.

Plus there’s a whole aquarium full of amazing marine creatures to explore, from rays to rare giant green turtles, exotic tropical fish to the colourful residents of the Rainforests of the World. The London Aquarium is also home to 11 species of shark and the thrilling shark walk right lets you walk right over them, watch your toes!
