Punting in Cambridge – Self-Hire Boat

Scudamore's Punting Company, founded in 1910, has the largest selection of boats for hire in Cambridge (so you will be in good hands). 

The punts can cater for 6 people, so if you are in a big group, dont worry, you will all be able to enjoy it together. 

All self hire punts also come with padded waterproof cushions, a paddle and a pole (to ensure your self hire punting trip is in comfort and style). You can also request life jackets on the day for those that require them. 

Cambridge Punting Tours run everyday Monday - Sunday, 9am until Dusk - giving you plently of opportunities to explore the delights of Cambridge before you relax on your 90 minute self hire punting tour! 

If you would like more time to develop your skills in punting, please note that any additional time over is charged at a standard rate of £27.50 per hour for adults and £22.00 per hour for concessions. 

So you have booked and ready to go, where do you go? You can redeem your voucher in 2 locations: 

• Scudamore's Mill Lane Punting Station (Cambridge CB2 1RS): Opposite the Mill Pub at the end of Mill Lane. 
• Scudamore's Magdalene Bridge Punting Station (Cambridge CB5 8AB): Opposite the Prezzo Restaurant at the Quayside on Bridge Street. 

Please note

• Vouchers are open dated and valid for 6 months from purchase. 
• The minimum age for hiring a boat is 16 years old. Children under 16 years old must be accompanied by at least one person who is 16 years old or over. 

Closures

• Please note that the self hire punting will be closed on Christmas day and in poor river or weather conditions. 

Accessibility 

• It is not recommended to take wheelchairs on to the boats as there is a risk of tipping.
• Storage for mobility aids can be provided on request.
• Access to the punt station is via a flight of steps.
• Assistance dogs are welcome and water is available for them on request.
