As one of the most popular cities to visit in the UK, and a finalist in the 2008 European Capital of Culture, Cardiff is sure to have something to entertain all kinds of visitors, and an open top bus tour is a great way to get your bearings and see the sights.
Buses depart every 30 minutes all year round, giving you the flexibility to explore this fantastic city at your own pace.
Millennium Stadium and Castle
Step off the bus at stop 11 to see one of the UK’s most famous sporting landmarks, the Millennium Stadium, host of the 1999 Rugby World Cup and soon to be used for the 2017 Champions League Final. Get back on the bus for one stop (or enjoy a short walk) to the magnificent hilltop Cardiff Castle; history buffs will love the 1,000 year old landmark, and a 50 minute guided tour is available to bring the fascinating history and stunning interiors to life.
Mermaid Quay
Mermaid Quay is the perfect destination for some mid-tour refreshment, with its huge range of bars and restaurants against the pretty backdrop of Cardiff Bay. Mermaid Quay is also home to a small selection of shops, but for some real retail therapy hop back on the bus to visit the city’s variety of Victorian and Edwardian-era shopping arcades. The arcades total nearly 800 metres in length so you’re sure to find your ideal boutique!
Wales Millennium Centre
No visit to Cardiff would be complete without seeing the architectural marvel that is the Wales Millennium Centre, the city’s cultural and arts hub that is famous for the huge calligraphic words that cover the front of its domed roof. Budding scientists will love a stop off at the Techniquest science centre, a fun and interactive look at science and technology, and a spectacular planetarium.
