Conveniently located opposite Brighton’s famous seafront and built in 1872, the Brighton Aquarium is a stunning example of Victorian architecture with over 5,500 marine creatures to admire close up.
Explore eleven creature zones that take you from the marine life of Britain’s seas to the hot and humid surrounds of tropical rainforests.
A glass bottomed boat
Take a ride aboard the UK’s first indoor glass bottomed boat and keep your feet dry as sharks, turtles, rays and tropical fish swim underneath you in the 750,000 litre Ocean Display. Watch with amazement as resident sharks Lulu and Gulliver glide over your head and glittering fish swim alongside you, as you pass under the sea through the amazing glass tunnel. (Separate ticket required, purchase upon arrival)
Rockpools
Perfect for younger visitors, the Rockpools offer the perfect chance to stroke starfish, feel the shell of a crab and even tickle a sea anemone – sea creatures that have no brain, heart or blood! – and play on the interactive flooring in Conservation Cove where you can learn all about helping to reduce plastic pollution and saving the seas.
Admire what is one of the most colourful and elegant marine species, the seahorse, in the Seahorse Nursery where Sea Life Brighton is working to protect vital seahorse habitats from extinction.
And go back in time to the Jurassic Seas where you will encounter prehistoric creatures that are still alive today! Meet Charlie, the resident Snakeneck Turtle who lived in pre-historic times, and learn about evolution as you step through an exhibit full creatures that lived in pre-historic times.
Secrets of the Reef
