Resting upon ancient foundations, Castell Coch (or Red Castle) is relatively modern – it was built by a Victorian with a very vivid imagination! Castell Coch showcases Gothic architecture at its finest. Marvel at the beautiful interiors, dazzling ceilings and lavish furnishings on your tour and explore using state-of-the-art multisensory technology.
Caerphilly Castle
Caerphilly Castle is the largest castle in Wales! Try not to get lost as you explore the medieval fortress, originally built in the 13th century (admission is not included in tour price).
This castle has long been synonymous with Caerphilly. It dominates the landscape and hogs the limelight, so much so that it provided the dramatic scenery of the popular BBC TV show, Merlin.
Surrounded by a series of moats and islands, the castle was designed by Gilbert “the red” de Clare, who also built the original Castell Coch. It’s also one of the few places where you can see a leaning tower – the ruined tower of Caerphilly Castle leans over by more than 10 degrees!
You’ll enjoy some light refreshments in the town of Caerphilly before heading out into the countryside. (Additional charge applies).
