  • The Whispering Gallery is accessed after a 257 step climb from the Cathedral floor and runs around the interior of the Dome. It gets its name from a charming quirk in its construction, which makes a whisper against its walls audible on the opposite side. It is the first of the three Dome Galleries visitors can climb to, after which you will arrive at the Stone Gallery (376 steps) and the Golden Gallery (528 steps), both on the exterior of the Dome

  • Children under the age of 6 are admitted free of charge and do not require a ticket
  • Children under 18 years old must be accompanied by a paying adult aged at least 18 years old when visiting the galleries

Ticket restrictions

  • Filming, the use of flash, additional lighting, tripods, monopods and selfie sticks are not permitted

Additional information

  • St Paul’s Cathedral is not open for sightseeing on Sundays
  • Visitors are allowed to take photographs in designated areas

St Paul’s Cathedral’s regular operating times are the following:

  • Monday-Saturday: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm (last entry 4:00 pm), except Wednesdays when the Cathedral opens at 10:00 am

Dome Galleries:

  • Daily: 9:30 am (10:00 am on Wednesdays) - 4:15 pm
  • Within the Dome, all three Galleries (Whispering, Stone and Golden Galleries) are currently open.
    Entry to the Golden Gallery is subject to availability due to capacity management at busy times and
    there may be time restrictions in place.

The restaurant is closed. The Coffee Cart Cafe is open in the Crypt Monday - Saturday.
