Windsor Castle ticket restrictions

  • Windsor Castle tickets are non-refundable and non-amendable.

Additional Information

  • Your ticket includes a complimentary multimedia guide available in English, Brazilian Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Russian and Spanish.
  • The English-language guides feature versions tailored for families (children) and D/deaf and hard of hearing visitors.

Windsor Castle opening times vary throughout the year, however the Castle is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

March to October:

  • Thursday to Monday: 10:00 am - 5:15 pm (last admission at 4:00 pm)

November to February:

  • Thursday to Monday: 10:00 am - 4:15 pm (last admission at 3:00 pm)

Please note:

  • Entrance to the State Apartments closes 30 minutes after the last admission time

Changes to normal opening hours

  • 18 March - Last admission is 1:30 - 2:00pm (castle closes at 3:30pm)
  • 31 March - Castle opens at 1:00pm
  • 21 April - Last admission is 11:30 - 12:00pm (castle closes at 1:15pm)

As Windsor Castle is a working royal palace, sometimes the entire Castle or the State Apartments within the Castle need to be closed at short notice.​

St George’s Chapel

  • Closed to visitors on Sundays as services are held throughout the day. Visitors to the Castle on Sundays will not be able to enter the chapel or view the burial place of Queen Elizabeth II.
  • Access to St George’s Chapel may be limited on busy days and during service.

Semi-State Rooms

  • The Semi-State Rooms at Windsor Castle are scheduled to be open until 24 March (subject to change).
  • During the winter months an additional five rooms, known collectively as the Semi-State Rooms, are included in the visitor route and standard admission charges apply.

Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House

  • Access to Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House may be limited on busy days.
