How does it work?
Once you have booked through the VisitBritain shop, you will be emailed an e – voucher. All you need to do is print the e - voucher out and take it with you to redeem for your ticket at the entrance of the building. You are then free to indulge in all the house and gardens has to offer!

Please note: The house is closed 1 December until 28 February. The visitor centre and café remain open.
How to get there:
By car

Merely an hour away from the centre of Edinburgh, the journey to this magnificent house will not be too long.
By train
Train services from Edinburgh Waverley to Tweedbank, roughly a mile from Abbotsford, run 7 days a week and takes just under an hour. Both Tweedbank Station and the earlier stop at Galashiels Interchange, are served by the “Border Weaver” bus service, taking only minutes and dropping off right outside the Visitor Centre.
We do advise that you check the schedule before you travel to prevent any disappointment and missing out!

Walking and cycle routes
These are easy alternatives to reach Abbotsford, with the walk from from Tweedbank Station taking a mere 20 minutes. If you desire a more scenic riverside walk, you can take the Borders Abbeys Way.
By Bus
Services run from Edinburgh to Carlisle via Galashiels, taking just under 1.5 hours. Visitors can transfer to local buses as well as the “Border Weaver” service at Galashiels Bus station. There are several bus routes stop at Galafoot Bridge, 10 minutes walking distance via a public footpath to Abbotsford.
