Accompany your full-costume guide as he leads you off the tourist track and into the hidden closes of the famously spooky Royal Mile. Here you will learn all about the horrifying incidents that happened right in the mists of where you stand.

Then prepare yourself as you enter the most haunted graveyard in the world, Greyfriars Kirkyard. Many report experiences of unordinary noises, smells and feelings all of which go unexplained.

Lastly, take a trip down to the haunted Underground Vaults which hold 400 years of horrifying history. Weave in and out of the damp corridors which were once filled with hangings, torture, murders and witchcraft. These vaults are renowned for ghost sightings and this tour is no exception. 

Upon booking you will receive an immediate confirmation of payment from VisitBritain. You will then receive a separate email from City of Edinburgh Tours within 3-4 working days confirming your date of departure.

Departure and return point: Old Police Box, 9 hunter Square, Royal Mile, EH1 1QS

Directions: The departure/return point is outside the City of Edinburgh Tours ticket office (the old Police box) located on the High Street opposite Starbucks

George IV Bridge- Buses 23, 27, 41 and 42

North Bridge- Buses 3, 3a, 5, 7, 8, 14, 29, 30, 31, 33, 35, 37, 47, x47 and 49

Please note, there is no parking available in or around the departure point or finishing point

Operating times

One tour runs at 6.45pm every day.

Your tour will begin promptly at 6.45pm so please arrive at your departure point at 6.30pm.

Tour duration: 1 hour 15 minutes (approximately)

Restrictions

• Children 4 years and younger are not permitted on the tour
• Children aged 5-15 years old must be accompanied by an adult at all times during the tour
• Tickets are not refundable
• Please be aware, this is a walking tour which will include slippery and uneven floors in some of the locations visited so please dress accordingly and watch your step!
• Unfortunately, The Famous Ghost Tour is not wheelchair or pushchair accessible
• The maximum group size is 30 people
