Film making workshops at the Harry Potter Studio Tour London

The Great Hall

September 2013

September means it’s back-to-school time – while the kids are putting on their school uniforms, why don’t you try on the robes of Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff or Slytherin?

From 6 – 26 September 2013, tickets to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London mean not only can you see for yourself the spectacular sets, props and special effects from the Harry Potter films, but you can also enjoy film-making workshops to learn how the movies are made.

The set design and storyboarding workshops include the chance to make white card models like the ones used in the early stages of production, and to learn how the different sets, models, filming techniques and post-production computer wizardry combine to create the magic you see on screen.

Visitors who take part in the workshops will also have the opportunity to use their own original story ideas to create storyboards, after learning about the real methods used in the film industry which the director, cinematographer and other production staff use to help them visualise a particular scene or the film as a whole.

Outside the workshops on the usual Harry Potter Studio Tour, guests of all ages will love examining the costumes of Hogwarts’ students and staff from each of the four houses up close, and even wearing replica robes as they fly on a broomstick against various backdrops like a real member of the cast.

The spectacular Great Hall of Hogwarts will also be decorated as it appeared during the O.W.L. examination scenes in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

You don't need to register to join a workshop - just book tickets to the studio tour in advance, and you're welcome to take part in the workshops as you're on your way round the tour.
