Guided Cycle Tour of Oxford

Oxford is known for its stunning, historic architecture, with the town dating all the way back to the Saxon period . Despite its history, Oxford still retains the ability to surprise visitors with its waterways, parks and hidden streets and gardens that ordinary visitors often miss.

As well as seeing the university from close up, this tour allows you to discover the parts of Oxford most visitors know nothing about. You’ll visit quiet waterways and peaceful meadows full of wildlife, and see breath-taking views of the city that you will remember for long after leaving the city.

At each stop, your friendly tour guide will share some insight into the city and allow plenty of time for photographs to capture the memories you make on the trip. 

Here are some of the highlights of your tour:

• Visit the spot where the Oxford Martyrs last stood
• Ride under the Bridge of Sighs
• Ride some of the oldest paths inside Oxford city walls
• Visit the largest university press in the world; Oxford University Press
• Ride along the River Thames, where Lewis Carroll began to spin the tale of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland 
• Go past the historic Oxford Canal
• Ride  to the home of J.R.R. Tolkien, author of “Lord of the Rings” 
• See the distinctive college designed by William Butterfield. End the tour at Christopher Wrens ‘Jewel in Oxford’s architectural crown’ 

Upon booking you will receive an immediate confirmation of payment from VisitBritain. You will then receive a separate email from Bainton Bikes within 1-2 working days confirming your date of departure. 

Tours run every Saturday and Sunday, subject to availability, starting at 11am between March and October 2017.

You will be given a bike on location. Please ensure you wear comfortable shoes and clothes for your ride.

If the child is between 9 months and 4 years old, trailers and child seats are available. A small child (9 months old) will only be allowed on the tour if they are able to support their own head. Children aged 4-7 will be given the option of child trailers and trailer bikes. Children aged 7+ will have the option to go on the tour on a bike or tandem.

Groups

Discounts are given for groups more than 30 people. Please contact us for more details.

For groups over 10 a separate guide is provided. It is also advised that large groups are split into a maximum of approx. 25 people per group. Please contact us with your group requirements.
