When was the London Eye built?

The London Eye opened to the public in 2000 as a new London landmark designed to celebrate the millennium. This is why the attraction is also sometimes referred to as the Millennium Wheel.

How long will I be on the London Eye?

Each rotation lasts approximately 30 minutes.

How big is the London Eye?

The wheel is 135 metres (443 feet) tall and has a diameter of 120 metres (394 feet).

How many capsules does the London Eye have?

There are 32 capsules on the London Eye, representing London’s 32 boroughs. However, capsules are numbered 1 – 33, as the thirteenth pod has been removed for good luck.

When is the best time of year to visit the London Eye?

The London Eye’s extended opening times in the summer months give visitors the opportunity to enjoy a ‘sunset experience’ – a great finish to the day and the perfect start to your evening. Winter also has something special to offer visitors – the earlier nightfall means guests can enjoy night time views of London beautifully lit up.

Your e-voucher is valid up to seven days from your preferred visit date selected. Visits can only be made 24 hours after your date of purchase.

All children under 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult of 18 years or above.

Departure Location & Times:

The London Eye River Cruise Experience departs from the pier at the London Eye and includes a live commentary and souvenir guide. Audio commentary is available in in French, Spanish, German, Italian, Dutch, Russian and Japanese, and a T-loop system is also available.

Cruises last approximately 40 minutes and depart daily at 10.45am, 11.45am, 12.45pm, 13.45pm, 14.45pm, 15.45pm, 16.45pm, 17.45pm, 18.45pm and 19.45pm. Click here to see the River Cruise Experience operating calendar.

Please note: Both the London Eye River Cruise and London Eye must be visited on the same day. It is recommended to take the River Cruise before the London Eye as the lines tend to be shorter. However, your joint ticket can be redeemed at both the London Eye and the London Eye Pier.
