Step inside the Grade I listed Royal Albert Hall, where your tour guide will take you through the atmospheric seating areas and Royal rooms, and share some stories about this piece of London history.
History of the Hall
The Royal Albert Hall was opened in 1871, and has been a celebration of music and performance ever since. Throughout the tour, your guide will share some of the secrets of the Hall’s history – hear about its connection to the Suffragette movement, the part it played in both World Wars and how its iconic dome was amazingly brought to London after being constructed 200 miles away in Manchester!
The auditorium
Visit the stunning main event, the vast auditorium, and see where crowds of up to 5,200 have been entertained by world-famous performers for almost 150 years. Admire the iconic red seating, striking aluminium roof and the floating white discs that create the Hall’s renowned acoustics. Your guide will talk you through the Hall’s spectacular catalogue of performers; how it plays host to the annual BBC Proms and some of the most famous faces who have performed here – including Phil Collins, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Brian May and countless classical artists.
The Gallery
Stand in the Gallery, above all the action, to hear the famous acoustics and get a unique view of the entire Hall. Depending on the schedule there may even be dress rehearsals taking place during your tour, giving you a fascinating look at history in the making!

You’ll have exclusive access to this ornate room, designed for use by the Royal Family and situated opposite the Queen’s very own concert viewing box. The Royal Retiring Room is ornately decorated with a full colour ceiling, lavish furnishings and portraits of the British Royal family.
