Morning
Arrive at 8.30 for departure from 60 High Street within Edinburgh’s Royal Mile – and hop aboard the coach to meet your friendly local tour guide
You’ll head north to the first stop, in Scotland’s historic capital, Stirling. Its skyline is dominated by beautiful Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument, where you’ll stop to hear the stories of Scotland’s most famous patriot, and to see some of the best views of the city.
Next you’ll hit the road again and travel deep into the Scottish Highlands, through the scenic areas of Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. Here’s where you might spot one of Scotland’s famous residents – the ‘Hairy Coo’ (otherwise known as the Highland cow)
Lunchtime
Lunch is held at one of Scotland’s most famous whisky distilleries. Take an optional tour for an insight into how ‘uisge beatha’ (the ‘water of life’) is made – and the chance to taste a ‘wee dram’.
Tickets are available for a small extra fee (around £7-9 – subject to change).
Afternoon
After lunch you’ll reach the Hermitage Forest in rural Perthshire. Its beauty was an inspiration for notable visitors including Wordsworth and Turner. Get ready to take what reviewers have called one of the ‘most beautiful walks in Scotland’, amongst some of Britain’s largest fir trees, the spectacular Black Linn waterfalls, and the River Braan.
Keep a look out for some historic cairns – the Scottish name for manmade stone structures – and see if you can spot some salmon in the river!
The tour’s last stop is the quaint village of Dunkeld – famous both for Shakespeare’s Macbeth and its beautiful cathedral, which you’ll have the chance to explore. Return to Edinburgh at approximately 5pm, passing the iconic Forth Rail Bridge on the way.
