Flexibility and convenience for your day out
With buses departing every 10-15 minutes (or every 20-30 minutes in the winter months), and the option to step off and re-join the tour wherever you like, an open top bus tour is a wonderfully convenient way to see the sights in the historic city of Oxford.
Visit locations from famous movie scenes
Famous not only for its elite university but also its stunning architecture, Oxford has something for everyone. Movie buffs will love a visit to Christ Church College – as well as being the alma mater of more than a dozen British Prime Ministers, it was used as a filming location for the Harry Potter and Alice in Wonderland films.
Beautiful architecture and immaculate gardens
The other famous colleges that make up the University of Oxford include Corpus Christi, known for its small size and intricate sundial in its main square, Trinity College and its immaculate gardens, and the 13th century Merton College with its fabulous chapel buildings. The 38 colleges that make up the university include some of England’s finest examples of Gothic architecture, leading to Oxford being nicknamed ‘the city of dreaming spires’.
Enjoy the tranquillity of a river cruise
Those seeking some retail therapy will love the Westgate Shopping Centre, while Oxford also provides plenty of opportunities for water-based fun. The Oxford Canal is a pretty and relaxing part of the town, with a number of pubs nearby, and you can hop off the bus at Speedwell Street to take a cruise along the River Thames (not included in ticket price).
Discover 1,000 years of history
As you’d expect, a city like Oxford has a long and fascinating history to be explored, and there’s no better place to start than Oxford Castle. At nearly 1,000 years old, the castle was incredibly still used as a prison until the mid-1990s, and now hosts a hotel, restaurants, markets and an interactive visitor experience.
